September 2, 2013-Needle Report

If I’m being truthful, I still have 4 pairs of socks on the needles. Not all are active. I love the Cadence socks, but….uggh. It is the second time I have attempted to knit these socks. They are a bit tight. Not sure at this time if I am frogging these or will pick them up later. Second sock I am ripping back out the toes, heels and cuff. This is not such an issue. I am almost done and will post them when done. I just have one toe to finish up. The third pair just needs a heel put in and those will be complete. The fourth pair was a diversion of the other three. I am just past the afterthought heel. I hope to have these finished by the week’s end (minus of course the Cadence).

I needed a break from socks so to complicate the matter further, I cast on the Dryad Scarf by Brooklyn Tweed. Gorgeous cables that look complicated but are not so much. Just cabling on every right side row, with a total of 60 stitches.

Here is where I am

Here is where I want to be. Right now scarf if measuring out at a pee wee length of 11″. Gotta ways to go.

Also, I have yet another languishing scarf. This is the Guernsey Wrap, another Brooklyn Tweed Scarf. I started this sometime last spring and knit on it until the heat became unbearable. I am knitting with Paton’s Yarn. I used only coupons to buy the yarn. This was a bargain. The yarn is a bit rustic I know, but that is how I saw this scarf to be. I am half way done now. A really easy and repetitive knit. Relaxing. My picture appears a bit bluish, but it is really a beautiful granite grey.

Here is what it will be (fingers crossed) when it is done.

And to close, a quote from one of my favorite authors….

“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
Neil Gaiman, Coraline

  1. Ahhh! Neil Gaiman! He truly is awesome! Do you like China Mieville too? I totally get the whole “I want to just knit something relaxing for a bit” thing – I’ve just turned the heel on my first sock and now I just want to knit some stockinette… I love the scarves, especially the Guernsey wrap – that blue is gorgeous!
